VSU Return to Work Plan for Summer 2020

Valdosta State University's three-phase plan to reopen campus is based on public health recommendations and implemented with the utmost concern for the wellbeing of our students, employees, and visitors. It is designed to mitigate risks related to COVID-19 and can be adjusted to meet university and community needs.

Phase One Begins June 1

Preparation and Prevention

  • Maintaining physical distancing continues to be required for anyone on campus
  • Employees will conduct a self-temperature check each morning before coming into work and self-report the results on required log
  • Employees will participate in COVID-19 related training prior to returning on campus
  • Employees returning to campus from other countries or domestic “hot spots” will take part in the 14-day self-quarantine
  • Continue virtual meetings/trainings/interviewing

Phase Two June 15 - August 21

Phased Return of Employees

  • Maintaining physical distancing continue to be required for anyone on campus
  • Identified staff members return to campus to support core mission activities while others continue to work remotely as we gradually return employee groups back to campus
  • Employees will conduct a self-temperature check each morning before coming into work and self-report the results on required log
  • Utilize staggered start times, modified hours, and engage in a flexible work schedule as deemed appropriate
  • Continue virtual meetings/trainings/interviewing

Phase Three Ongoing

Communication, Cleaning and Monitoring

  • Maintaining physical distancing continue to be required for anyone on campus
  • COVID-19 Risk Assessment Team meets weekly to review actions and coordinate appropriate response
  • Follow strict cleaning and sanitization regimen on campus by custodial staff, providing materials for employees and students to clean and sanitize as well
  • VSU will remain vigilant to regularly communicate information that is vital to campus.
