A WORD FROM

Interim President William Crowe

President's Update

February 2026

Dear VSU Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I have enjoyed meeting with many of you during this first month of my interim leadership here at VSU, and I anticipate interacting with many more of you in the weeks to come. I appreciate hearing about things that are going well, and things that need some tweaking. I have a few updates to share with you as we continue to move through the spring 2026 semester.

Enrollment Updates

Thank you to all who attended the enrollment summit last month and shared your input. I think it is important to know where we are in terms of enrollment as we work toward our VSU 2030 goals. A couple key points I want to emphasize; increasing enrollment is everyone’s job, not just those in the admission office or student affairs. Second, we want to increase enrollment in the Online College for Career Advancement and The Graduate School, but we also really want to focus on our traditional undergraduate population. These are the students who will live on campus, attend class in person, and enjoy all the engagement opportunities we provide. I appreciate all you are doing to increase enrollment while also ensuring our current students are having the best experience.

Presidential Search

I want to keep you updated on the search for VSU’s next president. The search committee is currently taking nominations and applications from those who are qualified and interested in being your next leader. As I mentioned in the Council on Staff Affairs meeting last month, the deadline for names to be submitted is Friday, March 6. After that, I expect the search committee will move forward fairly quickly with reviewing potential candidates and conducting interviews. I know this search is very important to Chancellor Perdue and the search committee along with all of you, and I will share updates on the process as I receive them.

New Wireless Eduroam

VSU’s IT team has rolled out new Eduroam wireless across campus. You may have seen the red yard signs. The biggest perk of Eduroam is that once you have it set up on your phone or other devices, you do not have to reconnect them to Wi-Fi when you change your VSU password. It also automatically connects when you are in range of VSU’s campuses, all University System of Georgia institutions, and any other participating Eduroam campuses globally. Click the link below to learn how to go ahead and set up your devices. The current VSU-Wi-Fi is available on campus for a limited time.

Spring Commencement

We are just over three months away from Spring Commencement, which is very exciting for our upcoming gradates. Those looking for full-time or part-time work following graduation, resume assistance, and professional networking can attend several events this semester hosted by the Office of Career Opportunities and Volunteer Services. Also, Grad Finale, the one-stop-shop for our graduates to get everything they need to walk in May, is coming up on March 10-11. You can see links below for both of these events along with a link for ceremony information. Spring Commencement is May 8 and 9, and it will be a wonderful celebration of all your hard work.

Sincerely,
