A WORD FROM

President's Update
February 2024
Dear Blazer Nation,
The spring 2024 semester is in full swing, and things are going well. There is plenty happening on and around campus, and I have some updates to share with you.
CVIOG Final Adjustment
As current employees were notified via email, we are pleased to be able to fund the final phase (Phase V) of the CVIOG Adjustment. That email was sent by Human Resources on January 16, 2024. The final phase funding was implemented as of February 1, 2024. The purpose of the CVIOG study was to increase our market effectiveness and to retain quality employees. Eligible employees should refer to their initial CVIOG letter for specifics regarding their gap amount.
Black History Month
February is Black History Month, and VSU has some great events planned both on campus and in the community. We are especially excited about the Black History Month Poster Symposium, where current students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit posters addressing the theme, “Educate, Elevate, Empower: The Future of Black Excellence.” You can read more about the poster symposium and see the full list of events by clicking the link below.
Board of Regents Visit
I always enjoy getting to show our colleagues from Atlanta around our beautiful campus. University System of Georgia Board of Regents member Jose R. Perez stopped by VSU recently for a tour. He enjoyed meeting with students, getting an update on things happening around campus, and seeing all the great things going on in Blazer Nation. I am incredibly thankful for the support of the Board of Regents and Chancellor Perdue.
Applying for Graduation:
Spring Commencement is still a few months away, but there are some important deadlines and events our seniors need to know about. The biggest date is Friday, March 29, which is the deadline to apply for spring and summer graduation. Our seniors graduating in fall 2024 or spring 2025 can also go ahead and apply. The link to those forms is below. There’s also a link to all the career and graduation events planned this spring. I’ll see you at Commencement in May!
In Closing
As the spring semester moves along, I encourage you to get involved on campus. Whether you want to catch a Blazer Athletics game or match, check out the Arts, or join a student or academic organization, there is something fun for everyone.
Go Blazers!
