A WORD FROM

President's Update
August 2025
Dear Blazer Nation,
I am getting excited about the upcoming fall semester. Campus is buzzing as move-in and bid week are both going on. There is excitement in the air, and I have some updates to share with you.
VSU Impact
The University System of Georgia (USG) Economic Impact Report for FY2024 was just released this week, and VSU continues to be a vital part of South Georgia. The report showed that VSU had a more than $385 million impact on our region, which includes Lowndes, Brooks, Lanier, Berrien, Cook, and Echols Counties. We are so proud of how valuable our employees, students, and alumni are to the economic success of this wonderful area we call home. The statewide impact of the USG’s institutions in FY2024 combined is more than $23 billion.
Standard Operating Hours
VSU has new standard operating hours, which are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The change was made to align all USG institutions, and I appreciate how smooth the transition to these new hours has been. Thank you for your flexibility as we ensure quality customer service and efficiency campus-wide for our students and families.
Buildings Updates
As we continue to see progress being made on the new Performing Arts Center (PAC) on North Campus, I am thrilled to share that it is now fully funded. The PAC is currently on track to open next year with Peach State Summer Theatre. The Farbar Hall renovations have mostly been completed, and the Marriage and Family Therapy’s Family Works Clinic has successfully moved in. Farbar is only waiting for some roof tiles to be manufactured and delivered. The Fine Arts Building renovation is now in the design development phase, and the College of Education Building, which received legislative funding for renovations, is in the preliminary design phase. I look forward to seeing all these projects come to fruition to ensure the best learning spaces for our faculty and students.
Getting Involved
For our new Blazers on campus this fall, there are so many ways for you to get involved and meet other students with like-minded interests. The College of the Arts has music, art, theatre, and dance performances and shows scheduled for this semester. There are more than 150 student organizations here on campus, and there is bound to be one that matches your interests. If you love sports, your VSU 1Card will get you free access to all Blazer Athletics events. And if you love to be active, Campus Recreation offers club and intramurals sports. Check out the links below to get more information.
In Closing
Our faculty and staff can get involved on campus this semester too by attending a Valdosta Symphony Orchestra performance, cheering on our incredible student-athletes, or catching a show at the Planetarium. It is going to be a fun and busy fall semester!
Go Blazers!
